Vikas Krishan Yadav

He is a champion. He won a gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games in the Lightweight category and a gold medal in 75kg weight category at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Vikas Krishan Yadav qualify for Olympics for three time.

Neeraj Goyat

The first Indian boxer to have made it to WBC World Rankings. He won the title of "India's most promising boxer" in 2008. He became the only Indian boxer who's face can be seen on the WBC belt and because of him, first time Indian Flag can be seen on a WBC belt. Vijender Singh

BORN 29 OCTOBER 1985
is an Indian professional boxer and politician. As an amateur, he won a
bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, becoming the first Indian
boxer to win an Olympic medal. He also won bronze medals at the 2009
World Championships and the 2010 Commonwealth Games, as well as
silver medals at the 2006 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, all in the
middleweight division.[1]
In June 2015, Vijender Singh turned professional and signed a multi-year
agreement with Queensberry Promotions through IOS Sports and
Entertainment. This ruled him out of 2016 Olympics which would have
been his fourth.

Mary Kom

BORN 24 NOVEMBER 1982
is an Indian amateur boxer, politician, and former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. She is the only woman to win the World Amateur Boxing Championship six
times, the only female boxer to have won a medal in each one of the first seven World
Championships, and the only boxer (male or female) to win eight World Championship
medals. Nicknamed Magnificent Mary, she was the only Indian female boxer
to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she competed in the flyweight
(51 kg) category and won a bronze medal. She had also been ranked as the world’s
No. 1 female light-flyweight by the International Boxing Association (amateur) (AIBA). She became the first Indian female boxer to win a gold medal in the Asian
Games in 2014 at Incheon, South Korea and is the first Indian female boxer to win gold
at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She is also the only boxer to become Asian
Amateur Boxing Champion for a record six times. Mary Kom won the 51kg gold
in President’s Cup in Indonesia.

Hawa Singh

16 DECEMBER 1937
Honorary Captain Hawa Singh (16 December 1937 in Umarwas,
Haryana – 14 August 2000, in Bhiwani, Haryana) was an Indian
Heavyweight boxer, who dominated Indian and Asian amateur
boxing for a decade in his weight class. He won the Asian Games gold
medal in the Heavyweight category in consecutive editions of the
games, in the 1966 Asiad and the 1970 Asiad both held in Bangkok,
Thailand – a feat unmatched by any Indian boxer to date (August
2008). He won the National Championships in the Heavyweight
category a record 11 consecutive times — from 1961 to 1972.

Laishram Sarita Devi

is an Indian boxer from Manipur. She is a national champion and a former world champion in the lightweight class. In 2009, she was awarded Arjuna award by the government of India for her achievements Devi turned professional in boxing in 2000, inspired by the achievements of Muhammad Ali. The following year, she represented India at the Asian Boxing Championships in Bangkok, and won a silver medal in her weight class. Following this victory, she won medals in various tournaments, including a gold at the 2006 World Championships in New Delhi. In 2005, she was offered the post of Sub-Inspector (SI) by the police department of Manipur, for winning a bronze medal in the 3rd World Women Boxing Championship, Russia and was promoted to the rank of DSP in February, 2010. She also won the silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Shiva Thapa

BORN 8 DECEMBER 1993
is an Indian boxer. He is employed with Oil and Natural Gas
Corporation Ltd. He is supported by Olympic Gold Quest and
Anglian Medal Hunt Company, Shiva Thapa participated in the
2012 London Olympics, and was the youngest Indian boxer to
qualify for the Olympics. Shiva Thapa is ranked 3rd in the
bantamweight category in the AIBA Men’s World Ranking. He is the
third Indian to clinch gold at the Asian Games. Shiva Thapa is the
third Indian boxer to win a medal at the AIBA World Boxing
Championships. He is now an Account Manager with Midland Credit
management. Thapa has been elected as a member of the
International Boxing Association (amateur) Athletes Committee

Vikas Krishan

BORN 10 FEBRUARY 1992
is an Indian boxer from Bhiwani district in Haryana, the hub of some
of India’s best boxers. He won a gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games
in the Lightweight category and a gold medal in 75 kg weight
category at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He is one of the best
boxers of India. He also played professional boxing. Due to the ban on the Boxing Federation of India in 2015, Vikas
competed at the World and Asian Championships under the AIBA
flag. Vikas Krishan Yadav is the second Indian boxer after
Olympian Vijender Singh to qualify for Olympics for the third time.

Akhil Kumar

BORN 27 MARCH 1981
is an Indian boxer who has won several international and national boxing awards. He practices an “open guarded” boxing style. In 2005, the Indian government gave him the Arjuna Award for his achievements in international boxing. In March 2017, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, appointed Akhil Kumar along with Mary Kom as national observers for boxing.[2]
He is a member of Haryana Police Service cadre who currently serves as Deputy superintendent of police. Worked as Nation Observer, Boxing (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India) from 2017-
2019.

Dingko Singh

1 JANUARY 1979 – 10 JUNE 2021
was an Indian boxer who won the gold medal at 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. He was from the North-eastern Indian state of Manipur. He was awarded the Padma Shri by Government of India in 2013.

Ngangom Dingko Singh, usually known as ‘Dingko Singh’ was an Indian boxer. He is considered to have been one of the most outstanding boxers India ever produced. He won the King’s cup in Bangkok in 1997 and won the Asian Games gold in the 1998 Bangkok Games. He was a service personnel of the Indian Navy.

He is well known for having grabbed a gold medal in the boxing event at the Bangkok Asian Games in Thailand in 1998.

Lovlina Borgohain

BORN 2 OCTOBER 1997
is an Indian boxer. She won a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in the women’s welterweight event, becoming only the third Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics. She won gold medal at 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and bronze medals at the 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and the 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. Borgohain is the first female athlete and the second boxer from Assam to represent the state in the Olympics. In 2020, she became the sixth person from Assam to receive Arjuna Award.

Amit Panghal

BORN 16 OCTOBER 1995
Subedar Amit Panghal Vishisht Seva Medal (born 16 October 1995) is an
Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and an amateur boxer.
He won silver medal at the 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships in the
Flyweight division. Panghal won a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
Amit Panghal has received top seeding in the 52 kg category. Amit
Panghal is the reigning Asian Games champion and a world
championships silver-medalist Asian Elite Boxing Championships
Panghal failed to defend his gold medal, that he won in 2019, against
reigning Olympic and world champion Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan
to finish second-best in Dubai.

Nikhat Zareen

BORN 14 JUNE 1996
is an Indian boxer who is 2 time world champion. She won a gold medal at the 2011
AIBA Women’s Youth & Junior World Boxing Championships held in Antalya. Zareen won gold medals at the 2022 Istanbul, and 2023 New Delhi IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. She also won gold medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Zareen was introduced to boxing by her father, Mohammad Jameel Ahmed, and she
trained under him for a year. Nikhat was inducted into the Sports Authority of India in Vishakhapatnam to train under Dronacharya awardee, IV Rao in 2009. A year later, she was being declared as the ‘golden best boxer’ at the Erode Nationals in 2010.

Lekha K. C.

BORN 22 APRIL 1981
Lekha K. C. represented Indian Women’s Amateur boxing at 75 kg
category and won gold medal in 2006 Women’s World Amateur
Boxing Championships.
Lekha was trained at Sports Authority of India’s centre at Kollam.
She had won the National women’s boxing championship six times in
succession starting from 2001.[3] She was among the four gold
medallists that won the World Championship in 2006 for India. She
won the gold in 75 kg category. She had won gold in the 2005 Asian
championship[4] and silver in the 2008 Asian championship.[5] She
was awarded the Dhyan Chand award for lifetime achievement in the
year 2021.

Pooja Rani

is an Indian middleweight boxer. She is two time Asian champion (2019,2021) She won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in the 75 kg category. She won the gold medal in South Asian Games 2016. She also won Silver (2012) and Bronze (2015) in Asian Championship 75 kg
weight categories. She represented India at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 in the 75 kg category. In 2016, she failed to qualify for the Rio
Olympics when she lost at the second round of the Women’s World Boxing Championships in May 2016,She is 7 time National champion also In 2020 She become first Indian to qualify for 2020 Summer Olympics.

Mohammed Ali Qamar

BORN IN THE YEAR 1980
is a boxer from Kolkata, India. He was the first Indian to win a gold medal in the discipline of boxing in the Commonwealth Games at the 2002 Commonwealth Games held in Manchester. Born into the Ghettoes of Kidderpore in Kolkata, Qamar was inducted into boxing at an early age by his father at the Kidderpore School of Physical Education, and was coached by Cheena Bhai. Qamar became the Inter-district champion in the state of West Bengal in 1991. He won the Light Flyweight category at the national sub-junior levels from 1992 to 1996. Qamar had a strong showing in the 1999 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Houston, reaching the quarter finals before losing to Ron Siler of the United States. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Qamar upset the home favorite Darren Langley 27-25 in the final, outscoring Langley 10-3 and surviving a standing count in the dramatic final round after trailing by 5 points at the beginning of the fourth and last round. Qamar’s career was plagued by injury and he did not win a major competition again, losing in the quarterfinals at the 2002 Asian Games at Pusan. Qamar’s neighborhood of Kidderpore is the hub of Women’s boxing in India, who claim Qamar as one of their inspirations.

Devendro Singh

BORN 2 MARCH 1992
also known as Devendro Singh or Devendro Laishram, is an Indian
boxer from Imphal West district, Manipur who competes in the lightflyweight division. Devendro represented India at the 2012 Summer
Olympics and lost out in the quarter-finals in a tough bout against the
eventual bronze medalist Irish boxer Paddy Barnes. Devendro qualified for the Olympics after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Baku. In 2013 Devendro won the silver medal at the Asian Confederation Boxing Championship. In August 2014 he won the silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He competed against Paddy Barnes, who was representing Northern Ireland and settled for a Silver medal.

Jitender Kumar

BORN 18 JULY 1988
is an Indian flyweight boxer. He won the bronze medal in the flyweight
category at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He represented India at the
2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing
At the 2006 Junior World Championships, he lost to future (2007) seniors
world champion Sergey Vodopyanov. At the Commonwealth Games 2006
he lost his semifinal to eventual winner Don Broadhurst. At the 2nd
Olympic qualifier he beat Noman Karim, lost his semi to Mirat
Sarsembayev but won the all-important third place bout against Godfrey
Castro 13:6 and qualified.

Nishant Dev

BORN 23 DECEMBER 2000
is an Indian amateur boxer. He won bronze medal in the 71 kg category
at the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Nishant took up boxing in 2012, inspired by his uncle, who was a
professional boxer. He used to train under coach Surendra Chauhan at the
Karan Stadium. Nishant’s father used to wake him up at 4 in the morning
and accompany him to training and did the same in the evening to ensure
that his son was trained well.

Mohammad Hussamuddin

BORN 12 FEBRUARY 1994
is an Indian boxer. He won a bronze medal in the first India International Open boxing championship in New Delhi. He competes in 56 kilogram category. Hussamuddin won a Bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held at Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. In the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, he claimed the bronze medal in the Men’s 57kg Featherweight category.

Satish Kumar

BORN 4 MAY 1989
is an Indian amateur boxer and a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Indian Army. He won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon in the super heavyweight category and silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He is the first Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympics in the super heavyweight category. He was awarded the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in 2018.

Akash Kumar

Akash Kumar is an Indian boxer. He participated at the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships, being awarded the bronze medal in the bantamweight event. Kumar was the first and only person of his county to win a medal. While competing, his mother’s death was kept secret from him.

PBOI is going to organize a free training camp for children under 16 year of age. Professional coaches and trainers can guide the children. We are helping the youth to expedite their interest in Professional Boxing. It will be 5 hours session from 1st Oct 2021 to 1st Nov 2021. Organizing at Tejli ground Yamuna Nagar stadium.
